I recently inherited this Omega from my father. From what I have gathered, it is a ref. 3999 with a cal. 571 movement. My father got it from my grandparents when he graduated in 1963, so I presume it was made around that time. I am now trying to find a good strap for it, but I'm having some difficulties in this department. The lug width is 21 mm, so there is not that much to chose from. Since the watch has great sentimental value for me, I'm consindering splashing out on a custom made strap for it. If I would do this, I would like it to be as period correct as possible. What would be the correct width at the buckle? Padded or non padded? What kind of leather? Any input would be much appreciated!

21mm straps are not that easily found. Mrs Northernman wears the watch, occasionally, on a light tan, ostrich strap similar to this: https://www.jomashop.com/hadley-roma-21os35c.html Lovely watch, and a design I think stands out in a good way. Cheers
ukwatchstrap.co.uk have a good selection of unusual sizes, including 21mm. I’ve bought various straps in various sizes and been very happy with them.
Omega just resized the entire line to odd sizes, it seems, so check there first. This seller is a good source: https://www.watch-band-center.com/watchstrap-s2632h1-Grained-21mm.html Tom
The strap you have now is one of the better ones and you can get a raised logo buckle from Omega for it. I have one on order. Tom
