Just watching Hitchcock's 1951 masterpiece with Farley Grainger and Robert Walker. Just after the character Bruno Anthony strangles Guy's estranged wife, he has a long look at his watch, an unusual chronograph with a unique configuration. I think the maker's logo is whited out or something. Can anyone recognize this particular manufacture?

Looks like a Lepine movement configuration. 1 jewel if I recall correctly.
    No idea about the brand

It looks like a Lapanouse/Cimier chrono caliber with a Roskopf type pin lever movement that sports a magnificent one jewel.

Trying to pin down the actual brand will be hard, these cheap pin lever movements were used in many brands in the 1940s to 1970s.

Of course Lapanouse, thanks for the correction.

The odd thing is that Bruno's character comes from a wealthy family and is always elegantly dressed. Seems incongruous for him to wear such a cheap watch.

    Great movie!

Props department - need a watch that looks "expensive"?

Get one with more than one dial and lots of hands.

    Problem solved.
