Strange Speedmaster Raising Some Questions!

Recently go this, very much as a parts watch as it has some useful bits and pieces which more than justify the cost to me. It is a bit of an odd one. Firstly it is an 861 movement with a 69ST case back. OK so far....except,,, the movement number is 26.55m which is obviously way to early for a 69 and would make it a transition 68 - just. Certainly one of the very first 861 movements. For what that is worth.
Second is the VERY odd dial. At first I thought from pics before purchase it has just been washed of lume. It is a flat T Swiss T dial and looks like a later service dial. However, with it in hand it is a weird shade of pale purple/lilac which I have never seen. I wanted to check if anyone has seen this and if it is a result of the cleaning process. reprinting, fake or some incredibly rare variation (I am not holding my breath on the latter!). It is actually very unusual and almost attractive in its own way.
Hands seem ok - loss of lume and paint shows they have been on and off a few times and totally dead lume-wise.
Movement is clean, all functions working and keeping good time.
I did think about doing an Extract but with no refunds on wrong entries it seems not worth it currently. Interested to hear what the forum members think.

Can you get the purple/lilac to show in a photo? I can't see it here myself. The printing looks a bit off, but it could just be crystal distortion from the scratches too.

A little rust on the hands? moisture intrusion?

I'm putting money on redial. The Speedmaster font is peculiar and the spacing on PROFFESIONAL is off.
The 1/20th second indices are inconsistent in thickness too.

The T SWISS MADE T is wrong. The T’s are set in close and the font is off.

OP’s
C1 dial detail from MWO

What a B2 dial, with real close in T’s, looks like:

The other OP photo:

I’m very suspicious. The dial doesn’t look right, but it’s close.

Agreed on dial - seems odd to redo a dial with little intrinsic value anyway - and get the colour wrong and no lume but hey,,,,it was the PROFESSIONAL that was the giveaway for me.
Now to the mystery of such an early serial number....guess we will never know.

If you can find a AML dial, you'll be in business. 👍

I'm living proof that you can find parts with some luck and patience.
Indeed. I have founds parts years later for some on my projects, sometimes totally by accident....TBH I would be happy with a step dial of some sort for this one. If anyone has something suitable please let me know....thanks for all the comments - very helpful.

Remember kids there is no such things as an 861 service dial. The service dial for an 861 would be whatever is current production.

I bought a similar "hodgepodge" Speedmaster, thinking it was a nice -71 with a DON. Instead I found a 26.00M movement inside (probably Seamaster), and a -74 caseback. The parts were original, but it was a total Franken. So I sold off the valuable vintage parts, bought an Albino dial and handset, and modded it (... with a couple other steps in between!). Turned lemons into lemonade 😀
