Hi Of, good Morning.
I found this on the market today and want to buy it. Seeking for your opinions.
This is seller photo.
Can not pop the casback yet. But it looks like 14363, however OVD said it was gold/steel, this is ss.
Using Cal. 501.
I know that 501 can be Certified on Connies, not sure if Certified on Seas.
The Dial looks ok to my Untrained eyes.
Thank you for your Helps.
Harry.

The OVD is not comprehensive.
Hi Dan, Thanks for your comment. What do you think about the watch in general? Does 501 with Certified on a Seamaster dial seem legit to you.

Obviously that would not be a common configuration, but I certainly haven't studied them enough to rule it out as a possibility. Others will know more.

I'd ask the seller for a pic where the minute hand isn't blocking the text on the upper dial, and with a better close up if he can manage it.

Tell him it helps to use the zoom on the phone's camera.

The condition of the dial doesn't match the movement.
I would expect to see a stunning movement but it looks out of place.

If the movement is certified, wouldnt it say that somewhere, stamped on the movement also?

this is my 18k Dennison cased 1958 Seamaster, non certified Cal 501

If the cal. 501 on this watch were chronometer rated the rotor would be inscribed as such. Like this:

So it is not clear which parts are original or not.

What is the model reference stamped inside the caseback?

The rotor has no chronometer markings, however it looks much newer that the rest of the movement so maybe it was a replacement.

I suspect a redial.

It's not a ref 14363, which has a straight top to the lugs.

IMHO it might be a wrong movement/dial combo in a case which looks very similar to ref 14350

Here is my OT 14350 for comparison but this has cal 354 inside which is a bumper movement

The cases look very similar but not completely the same... but we know that sometimes the SS and gold versions differ a little - just a thought...

so I assume it could be a franken what we see in the OP post or it is something completely different...

Will have more answer when I open it up. Will update later.

Perfect dial and beautiful case condition, but a case shape that is somewhat off, a movement with issues in a condition that doesn't match dial/case, some concerns about the dial and a weird replacement crown. My intuition tells me to stay away.
