Strange Chronograph Sub-dials

    I've noticed quite a number of chronograph sub-dials, especially those at 3 and 9, have an oval shape with the outer side of the vertical axis somewhat extended. See an example of what I mean below.

    Is this in fact the case, or are they actually perfectly circular and the appearance is caused by refraction through the sides of the crystal.

    Some of our chrono experts who've seen these dials in their nudity may be able to explain.

    This. It is an optical illusion. They are circular.

    This one gets me a little sea sick if I look at too long. I think that's why I like it. That , and it was "only" 500 beans...

    Watchmaker Mike is doing a little nip and tuck work on her as we speak.

    he had to break out the 25k laser welder to repair a rather deep mark made by someone who used pliers or channel locks in what looks like a failed effort to remove the case back.

    I really hate when that happens but,,,, an 85 dollar repair will roughly double the price (maybe triple if he matches the stainless perfectly) of an otherwise pretty perfect watch.
