I feel obliged to provide some better photos for posterity. All from the eBay photos, such as they were.

heh, yeah, no Flightmaster here... was watching this one with curiosity, but don't know them well enough to dive in at that price.

So, my uninformed opionion is that it's not horrible. the dial does look touched (see that 7 o'clock marker) and the hands too appear to have had some work, but it seems ok overall... movement is a bit dirty, but I guess that happens with ex-military watches...? Case is a bit soft, but again, this watch may/should have seen a life out in the world, so acceptable?

dunno. I'd wear the hell out of it, but didn't go for it for lack of more detailed knowledge.

Well, like @oddboy , I don’t have enough knowledge to swim in the deep end of that pool. So, wouldn’t have been a bidder, but it would have tortured me until it got over $7k.

At $12k, it’s not a noob tax anymore. It’s more like a noob ransom.

    Nice catch.

    It’s off by one.

    16941227 vs. 16941226

A clearer shot from the eBay page

serialnumber is funny cuz the same extract is shown on a different flightmaster here .

Here’s the serial number from the watch @Vintagewtchzilla is pointing out
    2BC4D5C3-7CE3-4B4E-AE74-E2AF09248AB9.jpeg

Which is the correct number for that extract.

Let’s compare the backs of these different two watches

    First, the eBay watch
    2CE945FC-7905-42B2-8C64-553E1A371406.jpeg

    And the Chrono watch
    F018DFF2-E62D-4739-AB47-7E4132DAF04B.jpeg

Notice how, on the eBay watch, it looks like the word Flightmaster was hand carved into the metal. Look particularly at the G and the H and compare it with the bottom one, which, at least, matches the extract.

    You wanna read something funny?

What if the serial number on the Chrono watch doesn’t match the extract either!

    B7968D7B-4044-4A25-93ED-4FC42725F24E.jpeg

I think that number is 16841226 and not 16941226!

    Neither watch matches the extract!

Someone needs to contact the eBay buyer, huh?

And somebody’s got balls to try to pull these two little scams off. I wonder where the watch that matches the extract is.

Don’t forget the ebay one is missing the FAP engraving

Haha didn’t see that the chrono one sn doesn’t match too

... as always , u buy the seller especially on such special pieces. The 2914 flightmaster were produced less than 150!!!! Pieces.

If you read the item description the seller was noting that his watch was one digit off of a known Flightmaster as a way to validate the one that he was selling. This is a smaller detail, however the bridge appeared to be cracked:

I was most concerned about the Flightmaster engraving on the caseback.
