Try winding it clockwise about 10-12 turns-than gently shake it and see if it runs...It probably needs a service running or not...

I have tried as you said rick a few times now. It has not been serviced in a while at least 2 years since i have had it although cannot justify the cost of a service against its value probably only worth £150

A good, honest 56x series with documented service history may be worth at least a few hundred £s here in the UK, as prices are a little higher than elsewhere. There's a gold cap on ebay right now at £400, with some wear to the plating, although I suspect that has been artificially inflated due to the private listing. However, right now you're faced with a watch that isn't worth a lot to you (or anyone) as it's no longer in running order.

It absolutely needs a service and, as an automatic, will indeed cost you in the order of £150, after which it ought to give you another 5-10 years of good service before any more attention is needed. Personally I'd fork that out and then continue to enjoy it!

Mathlar where do you recommend getting serviced for £150?
