Stolen watches

Greetings, good folks of Omega Forums,

I wish that my first ever post on this forum was under happier circumstances, however unfortunately it is to alert any prospective buyers to the fact that the below watches were stolen from me during an international flight recently. There are several Rolex pieces, so hopefully I am posting on the correct thread so as not to step on any toes of die-hard Omega fans (although I am sure that we can all get along and appreciate these pieces for what they are).
I have all the original warranty cards, boxes and papers for these, so if anyone comes across any of these as a 'watch only', in particular the modern OP, Explorer and TAG, with no original warranty card, that would be your major red flag.

1. Rolex Submariner reference 16800 from 1983. Serial number is 7476936. This watch has a gloss service dial with 'Swiss Made' at 6 o'clock, instead of the matte 'Swiss - T<25' dial, and is on a grey and black striped CWC nato.
2. Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 126000 Turquoise Blue 36mm. Serial number is T10491M1. 2023 purchase date.
3. Rolex Explorer reference 124270 36mm. Serial number is F5L39247. 2022 purchase date.
4. TAG Heuer Carrera Skipper reference CBS2213.FN6002. Serial number is BWE3971. 2024 purchase date.
5. Seiko 5, Rowing Blazers, pink dial. This watch is on an aftermarket stainless steel Uncle Seiko president bracelet.

I posted a similar thread on Rolex Forums, only to be banned without any prior explanation for apparently posting on 2 separate threads, and the only way to be unbanned was to become a 2024 pledge member by donating a discretionary USD30... Also got flamed inexplicably by some random forum members for apparently being a flipper or attention-seeker. Hopefully this doesn't happen here, and I am very happy to chat to any admin about the authenticity of my post if needed.

I have posted some of these pieces on reddit as well if anyone is interested in seeing what the OP, Explorer and TAG look like. Might edit this thread and add some photos at a later date.

Kind regards

Sorry for your loss. Pictures would help as would details of how and where this occurred. I once carried a full watch roll to London with me. Longest two weeks of my life. Never again.

Very sorry to hear that and will certainly keep a sharp eye out for these. And just in case any of the mods over at Rolex Forums are reading this, you guys really are a bunch of narcissistic jackasses - no offense.

I'm sorry about your watches. However, I have a hard time following the TRF story. Is that really all that happened? Two posts, no warnings, and a ban?

Thanks Larry. Inserting pictures, hopefully this works.

Will share full details in the coming days, as the investigation is still ongoing. On that note, wondering whether anyone has any experience with insurance claims for this particular scenario and whether posting on forums such as these will affect it or not (I'm assuming not, but have some hesitation). Thanks!

I was honestly shocked at the approach that was taken. This forum however is coming up aces so far!

I don’t have a hard time believing it at all. If I recall correctly, STANDY was banned over there years ago for joining with the username “Overpriced Seikos.” Those guys take themselves way too seriously.

Difficult as it is to fathom, that is pretty much a summary of exactly what happened. An email to the 'admin' site for clarification just prompted a request to become a pledge member if I wanted the ban to be lifted.

I’ve been trying to get banned from this site for years without luck.

On the subject of luck, wishing you the best. Posting here and on other sites can only help.

The investigative effort on the part of police will be based on the value of the theft. Keep in touch with whoever took the report to see if they will follow up or simply give you a report for insurance.

It might help us @once.bitten if you indicate which countries were involved. They are possibly more likely to turn up there.

Good luck with insurance. I had a Rolex stolen in Naples on a visit, and my insurer blandly said I had not given prior notice that I would be overseas. True, but given the size of my insurance premiums I was a bit miffed.

Sorry to hear. How did the thieves do it? Just curious as to avoid a similar fate...

Sorry, like real sorry this happened to you. Was it in the US? I only ask as my friend is explorer shopping and I can have him keep an eye out. He will usually be cautious about buying the seller but maybe he can look for scumbags during search.

Serious bummer on the theft!
Well if the bastard insurers cough up the money, in fair and sufficient amounts, maybe you could look for replacements……but this time you could go Omega, as you’ve already found out we’re a friendlier more down to earth bunch…… I’m probably one of the most obnoxious here…. but even when I’m being a shit stirring sarcastic prick…..I’m nicer than those miserable bastards over at the Rolex forums!

I'm also curious to hear more about how the watches were stolen during a flight.

Usually these airport thefts occur at the security checkpoint because they are a natural source of chaos, but OP hasn't reported back with exactly what happened. I would think it would be rare to have a theft take place during an actual flight.
