When purchasing a vehicle, I always do a stolen search using VIN number, just to make sure seller isnt trying anything funny. This got me thinking. Seeing how some of the watches that people buy cost more than some of the cars, is there any sort of database, site or what have you where you could check if watch is possibly stolen. I am not thinking locally, but when possibly purchasing watch from location where there is known high robbery rate. I personally would like to verify that this wasnt someone's prized possession that is gone bye bye, and crook is now pawning it off online.

Perhaps stupid question, I know, but curious to see if there is any way to be as certain as possible.

I know, but I avoid strangers in trench coats; they are a bit unnerving. Pipe in hand is more soothing. :)
