Hello, im new to this forum and seeking advice. For a couple of months now i am collectiong Omegas and already aquired 4. Just purchased this (5th) Omega out of an auction with genuine papers. Unfortunately the papers dont seem to match the watch. Also the serial number starting with "R" looks exchanged to me. Already contacted the seller. He is willing to reduce the price or to return it. Question: Was the watch stolen and the serial replaced? I may be totally wrong, to be honest i have no clue and i am also quite sure that the seller want aware of any issues. Thanks, Jonathan
There was a discussion about R serial numbers here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/speedmaster-with-strange-serial-number.25969/
Thanks for the link. As i read through the posts its unclear if the conny has replacement parts or is a "prototype"? How come that the reference number on the papers does not match also?
Looks like the bridge was replaced. Not a big deal for me. I'd like to see a better picture of the dial. I would have some concern there. gatorcpa
CK 2582. That's the case reference number. http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-watches-database?ref=14966 Should be correct for this watch. No way to know if those are the original papers for this watch. gatorcpa
Yeah, I think it's good too, but did you notice the crossed T's with the applied OMEGA? That's not a normal dial variation.
…I'll leave it to my betters to judge authenticity when it comes to details that minute - I simply haven't got the expertise! Just meant to say that the quality and patina of the dial had the right look
Not sure if that dial style is from a Ref. 2852. Looks more like a later model, but with printing of the earlier one. Could be a correct variation. I'm just not sure. gatorcpa
