Just found this watch at a flea market. They are asking $80, probably can bargain it down to 40. However I am unfamiliar with the brand, is it worth buying? Looks to be brand new and functions well. Still has plastic on the back of the case

Hahaha I know. Looking for something older and not in terrible shape that I can take apart and reassemble to learn about watches. Accidentally posted on wrong forum, I do apologize... I'll be more careful next time

If your goal is to learn, starting with a Chinese chronograph movement is not a good idea...

Advertising for this carp at one time seemed to imply that these were almost on a par with the finest watches ever made! To the contrary! Save your money. Don't think of it based on what you save, but what you get for what you pay!

I would not pay more than 10-20$ for it honestly.

For 80$ you can actually get a much higher quality similar watch. There are a couple of brands also with french/german sounding names... But they also produce in Asia/China...

I took the tour of this factory. It looks just like a Swiss chalet. Lots of pine trees and BMW's parked out front. They have a beer garden in the back.
All the watchmakers wear lederhosen and drink hot chocolate.
Here is a pic I snapped in the beer garden. Those Chinese know how to throw a party.

If you can get the seller to pay you $40 to take it, it's worth considering.

Even if the seller offered to pay me to take it, I would refuse the watch. On second thought, I would take the watch AND the money, then treat the watch like REFUSE, find the nearest garbage bin, and deposit it! Funny thing, the English language! The same word with two different meanings!

Google is your friend if you look for owner reviews relating to these (ahem) watches. Not too many dyed in the wool collectors expressing an opinion on these, not surprisingly!

I love how they stick a "tachymeter" on a non-chronograph watch. What an absolute piece of crap. Manages to make some Invictas look good.
