Hello everyone!
My father claims that in his youth he had his grandmothers omega watch with so called „shrapnel guard”. He gave it to his girlfriend and she dumped him lol

We digged internet auctions and found similar one, although without guard and non spherical glass, but the same dial and very similar hands.

My questions here- is this original or frankenwatch? Is mechanism original? I saw that it was used mainly in „medicus” watches. What about other parts like crown? My dad recalls it was originaly rather „ball” shape
We are dumb about watches, don’t even know if it’s worth 250$, or is it some chinese parts omega?
Any information appreciated, thanks!

Hello Janek,

when you describe your grandma´s watch with „shrapnel guard” it was most likely a watch from WWI
The serial numbers of the watch in your photos put the watch at around 1938/39
So it is much younger than the watches with „shrapnel guard”...
But it is a nice watch at this price.

regards
Erich

I don't know if it's all-original, but I have no reason to doubt it at first glance, and it looks quite nice, especially for the price. The dial is very clean with no flaws.
