Hello OF,
I read the story several times here in the OF: Im in the 30s, hard working gave me the opportunity to get what I want: A beautiful watch as an reward for what i reached!

Im now at the same point and really understand this feeling. I had no contacts before with omega (e.g.family) and i had never the wish to buy a expensiv watch.

I read the last two weeks hundereds of pages in the OF and Im for the one hand stunned about the knowledge here - and in the other hand now in love with vintage omegas! Little art works!
In the next months i will try to find my own Omega. I took the way from a clean Geneve to seamaster and stoped at the Pie Pan Constellation. The Connies are so timeless!
Im really in love with the Models 14395, 168.005, 14393
Obligatory for my first Connie is: Calendar, dog leg, Rose Gold arms and markers, silver/white dial
A solid Gold Case would be nice but not obligatory - steel case and bor bracelet are also stunning enough 😀

For my first post perhaps not too many questions:
- I recognized, that waffle or hobnail dials never has calendar in this model lines. Is this right?
- There are different types of markers common. e.g: in the pictures above straite or tapering (clean or with onyx) or arrow heads. I really like those thinner arrows (look like small arms) - but it seems there are not quite often!?
- I checked a lot of prices. My budjet for this start should be with gold case around 1500 - 2200 and with steel case around 1000 - 1500? Is this right?

Enough for the beginnig. Sry for grammer and orthography mistakes! Not my native language...
Kind regards from switzerland!

Have you noticed this:

To be honest don`t know if everything is legit though.

welcome @Franzjoni
Be careful - Constellations can become addictive 😉

Be aware that the watch that @sirtaifun kindly posted a link to is a locally-cased 'facsimile' of an Omega case, approximating the case style of a 168.010/.018 but lacking the finesse of a Swiss (or even English or French) cased Constellation and with what looks like a snap-back case.
To add to your list of dial types, the pie pan dial has painted indices not onyx (which is correct for the date-range of the movement)

Budgets vary with; where you buy it from, different references, case material and very importantly, condition
A good gold case will be nearer 3000 (more for certain references) and a good steel case anywhere between 1000-2000 depending on the reference.
Gold-cap cased Connies tend to be the least expensive option (of their reference)
If you can eschew a pie-pan and accept a dome dial, then your budget will stretch further and you will have more of a range to aim at.

Good luck with your search for your ideal Constellation
(and post your target watches on OF if you are at all uncertain about them)

Just fyi, the rose gold portion of this will be the hardest part - not many out there.

The 143** and 167/8.005 reference Connies didn’t really come with textured dials at all. There is one exception that comes to mind - textured rail track 14381/14393s, but they’re impossible to find. The textured Connies are more common on earlier references 4-digit references.
