Whenever I watch a launch, I think about our younger OF members who have no idea what it was like to sit in an elementary school classroom and watch the Apollo launches as I did. It truly was America at its finest, rising to JFK's challenge:

Well it’s impressive seeing something that big getting off the ground but it was a failure again a few minutes into the flight, sounds like a separation failure of some sort prior to the Starship’s engines igniting. No idea when they’ll try again.

Blowed up real good!

Still find all the scheduled cheering quite annoying...

I thought this morning would be a Speedy day with this launch.

Turns out it's a Seamaster day when they recover that wreckage.

It's very important to set the bar low enough that an explosion can be considered a success. I mean, at least the explosion didn't create a swastika pattern visible from earth. ::stirthepot::

It will be impressive when they get it right. They will soon enough SpaceX was considered a joke a bound for failure in its early days.

I guess the swastika comment is in regards to elons comment on X? I still don’t know wtf he said. I did join X when he bought it (wish he hadn’t) but I just can’t see the fun of scrolling through all the BS I see on that site. I think I’m doing something wrong as I hear there is decent news available on the site, I’ll just be damned if I can find it.

Compared to the previous test flight, just having all the first-stage engines (apparently) run continuously through their planned burn is a big step forward.

For better and for worse, Musk is looking more and more like the Henry Ford of his generation.

I want to admire the guy but I just can’t. He is on the autism spectrum but he should know better. I own Tesla stock which finally bouncing back a bit but I will never own the car. His behavior has to be dragging on the stock price.

Whatever he does, it's all Tax Deductible. He won't pay a $ in the future. Then it's easy to tank Twitter, Monster Rockets and more ...

Musk needs to be replaced, as they replaced Steve Jobs from Apple. He believes that Tony Stark shit and no one dares to say no to him. Anyways in 5 years he will be gone:

The almost haphazard development of "keep doing it until it DOESN'T explode" reminds me of the work done on rockets in the 1940s.
