    Hi All,

I am fairly new to the Omega game, having received my first as a wedding gift from the father in law. It was the wifes grandfathers so I'm not allowed to wear it for work - should I accidentally leave it somewhere!

I recently bought a vintage black face, gold Seamaster so I have one to wear. I was just wondering what watches people see as staples for a good collection e.g. IWC Cal 89, Moonwatch etc

    Open to suggestions,

    Cheers,

Rolex Submariner, Speedmaster Pro, maybe a Datejust or dress watch, I wear a 1967 Rolex 5513 as my daily driver on a leather horween horsehide strap!

Everyone needs at least one Seiko dive watch as a beater for yard work or water sports.

While one may say a Speedmaster, a Constellation pie pan, a Submariner etc, i don't feel there's an answer for this.

It's entirely dependant on personal taste.

Very nice! I agree with David, it entirely depends on how you want to shape your collection. Personally, my tastes have shifted quite a bit, so I do try and have a wide range (though mainly Omegas):
    - moonwatch
    - dynamic
    - pie pan in gold
    - pie pan in SS
    - sea master professional
    - etc

There are others here who just do Speedies, or just ultra-thins, or just bumpers, etc.

If you are just starting out, I'd suggest buy a wide range and see what you like.

I really like the connie with a black dial and gold daggers - but frankly they seem hard to come by!

None. No one is grading your collection. Buy what you like. And be prepared for it to change as your knowledge base grows and evolves.

Thanks, but my collection is for me, no one else. That being said, I'm open to seeing watches I would have never considered or have seen before. I'm not making a shopping list of classic watches I must own, just simply trying to get some ideas for what might be nice to get over the next few years.

    Cheers,

Hey guys, would it be wrong for me to tell him to buy a _____________, then link to my freshly listed sales thread for the same watch? :D

Well search through this forum then. There are thousands of threads, thousands of watches. It should keep you busy for a while and give you all you need to form your own preferences.

I highly suggest looking through the WRUW (what are you wearing) thread. There are so many incredible watches in there and this will help you find what turns you on watch wise.

    @LouS nailed it on advice

Buy smart as he said your tastes will change and by buying smart you can re-sell when your taste changes.

IMO just buy what you like, and have one or two beaters
