Hey, I'm looking for an assortment of springbars for 18/19/20mm watches, but the $3.50 kits on eBay from china scare me when the watch they're going on 1960s chronographs, what's a reliable option?

Thanks guys, what are the diameters I should be after for Speedmasters / El Primeros / Constellations / Seamasters in general (I know they're all probably a bit different)

The ones for Speedmaster etc are 1.8mm

I normally buy a few Omega ones from Cousinsuk whenever I place an order for parts. They are about £1.75 each which does make you wonder what sort of quality you get from a pack of 300 for £5 :D

And go for the double flange ones for 'easier' removal

I've tried those double flanged ones but thought they were a bit flimsy.

Personally I go for the single flanged ISO, which are very similar to Omega's own with a single thick notched flange. For 19mm springbars I choose Omega's own, to go on the Speedy bracelets (068ST2207), but for some stupid reason, Cousins have a completely incorrect spring bar listed for the longer version that should be used for straps (068ST2208). My attempts to educate Cousins have fallen on predictably deaf ears.

So for straps I buy the 20mm ISOs (138A20).

I think 1.8mm will afford a snug fit and agree on the double flange ones though if the strap is on tightly at the lugs and there is no pinhole at the side of the lugs any of these spring bars will be difficult to remove!

I've order the 068ST2207 and 068ST2208 from Cousins and received the correct springbars afaik. I didnt find them to be flimsy although I have bent a couple of Omega springbars on my mesh strap after a particularly nasty fall, hardly noticeable on the springbars but my wrist and arm certainly knew about it :D

I'll have to look at a packet of the 138A20's next time I make an order, being Swiss made they should be pretty good.

When I ordered the 068ST2208, I got this:

I have one of the "cheap" assortments that were given to me as a gift, and I've not had any problems with them. One advantage is that since they are on the thin side, it's not difficult fitting them in NOS unpadded straps.
