    Hi

Some of you may know I recently removed my 1503/825 Bond bracelet from my SMPQ and fitted a black Isofrane which I'm loving. However I read recently on a website that when you remove a steel bracelet and replace it for a strap you should fit longer spring bars.

When I fitted the Isofrane I fitted it with a new set of genuine 20mm Omega spring bars suitable for the 1503 with 825 end links, (I kept the ones supplied with the watch with the bracelet so I could leave the new ones in the Isofrane).

Did I do wrong?::confused2:: It appears fairly secure and I've played a few rounds of golf recently and it's still on my wrist!

    Cheers
    Matt

I did the same. When I took it for service at STS they said they would fit stiffer spring bars than standard as sometimes a rubber strap allows more pressure on them than the bracelet. They didn't say anything about longer bars...

The strap spring bars are a different part number, and are longer usually. So I just measured two sets of bars for bracelet and straps - measured the free length so this is completely uncompressed.

For the bracelet, the bar measured 22.33 mm, and for the strap is measured 23.36 or so.

    Cheers, Al

Actually for a Speedy Pro please.. I assumed they'd be the same as on the SMP. Thanks!

Thanks Archer. I thought so.. I was right. I tried to order some of these from Cousins UK, and no image was showing on their website.

What turned up was these (and this image now showing against 068ST2208 on their website):

I tried to contact them to tell them they had the wrong part but it didn't do any good...

That's not an Omega spring bar....Omega bars have a fairly wide single flange at each end. Don't install that one as it will be a bear to get out again....

I'd realised that already, and I'm currently using Swiss ISO (but non-Omega) spring bars on my Speedy strap. They're not quite as stiff as the OEM ones but they're not bad, and just a fraction longer than the bracelet spring bars.

I don't think it's a huge deal under normal wearing conditions, but if the watch snags on something it might fail more easily. I would not buy anything from that place - they have a very poor reputation and there are many complaints of people not getting what they ordered...there is a thread about them on WUS public forum you should reads before spending any money with them. I've never dealt with them myself, just read the stories, and there are lots of them...

Best to see your AD and I'm sure they can get them for you.

    Cheers, Al

068ST2208 for the SMPQ, as quoted above?

You should just let them select the right bars for you. They will know which bars are the right ones.

Yes, I should - the 2208 is what you need for the strap....
