Spots inside of crystal.

I have a Seiko King Turtle PADI that I recently purchased and last night suddenly these spots appeared on the inside of the sapphire crystal. I never saw any water drops like condensation but it almost looks like residue left from water drops.

many idea what this may be and perhaps a solution.
This model is ISO certified and should not be allowing moisture in for it to condensate… I would think.

I don’t know if it matters but Thursday was really rainy and I was out in it a bit, Friday was in the 20s and 30s F most of the day and I was in and out of the cold to the warm inside. Could the going from cold to warm cause something?

These were taken prior to yesterday so you can see they weren’t there before. I have not dropped or hit the watch on anything to cause any damage.

How long have you had it?
Did you buy it new, or pre-owned?
If you bought it used, what do you know of the service history?
Are you covered by the Seiko factory warranty?
Have you had occasion to have the watch opened while you have owned it, for any reason?
Were you under the impression that water resistance ratings are perpetual, and the watch will never admit moisture?

There are simply too many questions to which we don’t know the answers, for us to contribute meaningfully in identifying or helping you solve the problems you have.

Did you get the watch wet?

I’ve never even splashed it before. Much less submerged it. I was out the other day when it was misty rain but I had on a jacket so it was kinda tucked away under the sleeve.

Either way, you bought it new and there is evidence of moisture. Definitely should contact Seiko warrantee dept.

Well then. I’m rather surprised that you didn’t come to the conclusion that it goes back to the dealer the first chance you get! Rather than to be asking us for advice.

Have you noticed whether the crown has either become unscrewed, or perhaps you weren’t aware that it must be screwed down other than during re-setting the time.

The rainbow indicates some sort of hydrocarbon / lubricant in whatever liquid has been deposited on the inside of the crystal. My very early opening gambit is it was always inside the watch case, not a leak from outside.

The crown stays screwed down, I I have only unscrewed a handful of times to hack it. But like I mentioned it just showed up yesterday, I wasn’t sure if weather change would cause something like this and it might clear up or if it was defective, hence why I asked.

I purchased on Amazon and have til the 31 of Jan to return. I guess I probably need to go on and do that since it seems to be defective.

In my opinion, you should have bought the Seiko from an authorized dealer nearby to you. I wouldn’t buy spats for a hummingbird, or a feed of oats for a nightmare, from Amazon! Especially a watch!

None of the ADs around had the either of the models I wanted and only one could get one of them but it was several weeks out. Tried Macys online because they are authorized dealers and they were out of stock on the model I wanted. So I settled for Amazon.

Do y’all have any suggestion for a good AD that deals online? Long Island Watch is where I have been looking at lately online.

Buy on line and have a problem or a complaint? Who ya gonna call? Buy face to face from an AD, and there’s a far greater likelihood he’ll go to bat for you, than some anonymous, faceless outfit in a cold water walk up would. If you have a SEIKO warranty with the watch, then that’s the way to go. Send it to them. If you don’t have a Seiko warranty, you have a problem typical of people who buy on line!

Interesting responses after a few hours. The OP should have the same guarantee you get from the local AD. The watch comes from the same factory. The question was about marks appearing on the inside of the crystal of a new diving watch. Frankly it shouldn't matter where he bought it, if it is a genuine product then it could have happened if he bought it from Amazon or an AD.

It's another topic if someone chooses to buy from one outlet or another. I'm assuming that Amazon is a licenced / authorised seller of this product but not breing an Amazon customer, I wouldn't even come close to understanding their business model.

The only thing I would agree with is buyer beware. But if the same guarantee was provided as comes from the AD then the real issue is what caused the problem in the first place. The responses so far haven't been illuminating on the possibilities, more hang the buyer.

Couldn't he return the watch directly to Seiko for service with proof of purchase? A lot of (not necessarily watch) places are doing this... "do not return to place of purchase, return directly to us"...

Perhaps start here? https://www.seikoserviceusa.com

Amazon (or one of its associated dealers) will sell that thing again, and lo and behold we may end up hearing about the same problem again!
