I could make this a concise hands-on review. However, what I wanted to do when the Omega Speedmaster First Omega in Space (FOiS) landed on my desk was answer the question of whether this would be the Speedmaster for me. Ever since Omega unveiled the Speedmaster FOiS, the watch has intrigued me. First, I love […]

I've had mine for a year and 4 days now. Gorgeous watch with legibility issues.

A great looking watch indeed. I might get myself one of these some day.

Tried one on a little while back and the dial is memorizing with that color. Loved everything about it except the hands. Probably will get one at some point because the sapphalite crystal really was nice. Wish they would offer it as an option for the regular Speedie.

I tried one on at an AD a few weeks back. I was expecting to hate it because of the hands.

But it really is something special.

I suspect I'd grow to hate the hands in real world situations.

The answer is to not wear it every day.

I was very tempted, but opted on my white speedy. At the time, I was concerned it was too similar to my Hesalite speedmaster. Now that I have an Ed White as well, this is the one that would be the odd-man out.

That said, if you had this as your ONE black speedmaster, I'd suspect it would satiate a need for a black speedmaster.

Before I rant, can I just say that fratellowatches.com is probably the best watch website. Every article is really great. Love that site.

Rants - Legibility issues - why polish the hands? My Grand Seiko Spring Drive diver (SBGA461) has beautiful brushed hands that look great and never, ever blend in to the dial.(Picture below) It is just inexcusable to produce a watch that is hard to read. I love everything about this watch but if you can't look down at your wrist and easily tell the time without putting on my readers it will not work.

Such a great watch, if only I could read the time I would buy it in a second. Thanks for the great write up Robert-Jan.

Funny it’s the hands that attract me. One of these was definitely on my list I gotta admit I’ve only seen them here and for sale online so it’s I’m probably missing the whole legibility thing. Lovely watch imo

I do not like Broad Arrow hands or Alpha hands in general, but particularly on a Speedmaster. They just look too old fashioned for the watch. But to each their own. No right or wrong.

If you already have a 321 Ed White there wouldn't be too much need for the FOiS, imo. The new 321 is the best Speedmaster since, well, since the 321 was discontinued in the late 60's.
