It's a great looking watch with unique styling features but the early signs are it is going to be flipped like crazy

Does this mean it has been reserved by many people who do not appreciate what it is all about and want to use it as a free pass to make a couple of £000

How did non watch fans get involved, I am finding this a bit disappointing although I feared it might happen due to the current situation with Rolex SS Sports models in the UK

They got involved simply for two reasons: 1. Money maker. 2. You don't need a deposit to reserve one.

The XI-45 LE had some appreciation after 2014 (still holding) but non one expected the Snoopy to reach an appreciation of 2X retail pricing.

When the ST was launched, the Snoopy price explosion was already well known within the general WIS community and I totally agree that the zero deposit made it zero risk for pure speculation flippers to reserve the ST LE for possible future profit. Heck we even had OF members admitting that they had got two reservations using a third party e-mail just to flip the second watch. No criticism or judgement BTW on the ethics of that, just stating facts.

If we do have a huge amount of early flippers, appreciation will be kept down, and this might generate a knock-on effect for those not fully committed to the watch...some might start thinking twice about maintaining their reservation, as they will no longer have the relative security of resale value IF they flip the watch in the future.

We just have no way of knowing right now the ratio of future ST potential keepers vs flippers. Early days...

What is the MSRP for these watches? These are pretty nice looking. Almost as nice as a Gemini4.

Oh man. What happened to the post with the other speedy tuesday on ebay? I can't find it. I can search for any of them on ebay either. Maybe it's because I'm in the US?

Hopefully Omega listens/reads carefully and will avoid such mistake in future. Always ask for a deposit in the future, 50% down payment. Speculators will abstain as they don't know what will happen price wise. So only aficionados will get the reservation slots, well predominantly.

Well, unfortunately that cow is out of the barn so to speak and true watch fans/collectors, who would have never let the watch out of their hands, were left on the outside while flippers seem to have got a good portion of what may be the best Speedy ever.

I think the issue will arise no matter whether a deposit was required or not. Speculing on new watches is very risky but I suspect people will have to get their fingers burnt a few times before things return to normal.
If a deposit had been required immediately, the most likely scenario would have been that it would have taken longer to sell, maybe weeks or months. The marketing value of of being able to say they were all gone in 4.5 hours must be a lot.
I think most of the watches went to watch fans who now see a possibility of doubling their money. If that happens then the seller is potentially getting enough to get a "free" watch which has to be an attractive proposition for a lot of people.

I agree, but even a modest deposit can work. Just take a look at what Tesla did with the Model 3 (I know it's not a limited edition though) As much as I love the watch and fully intend to keep it, there would definitely be a number I couldn't say no to. I think the idea of doubling your money quickly is enough to make many watch fans/collectors think twice. Then there is the possibility of a non-limited reverse panda Speedmaster that could significantly hinder long term ST values. Omega's waiting list is a great data point for them. If it's as long as we've heard, they might consider future reverse panda options.

Londoners are divided whether they like the ST or not ! 4 of the UK deliveries are now on ebay (sorry, I know people are not interested in the ebay listings)

My question is, between the ST facebook page and this thread, I have seen about 6-8 people getting deliveries, and 4 gone for resale, thats not a good ratio imo. is the watch suddenly not desirable ??

The only person that can answer that is you, I still desire it for me because I love the unique dial and features. What some guy with an eBay listing thinks of it and the market value has no real impact on that.

I think it is more that an instant ~£2k profit is very desirable to some, rather than any failing with the watch.
