So, my Omega Watchmaker is retiring . Which is a bit of a Disaster ... My Question here : I`m not that familiar with newer Omegas ; is there a demand for Omega Factory Red Tachy DoN Bezels for that model ? He has 3 New complete Bezels and has asked me, if there is a demand to list this for eventual Mods ? If so, I`d list them because he is in his late 70`s and not versed in Internet sales. Any insight would be appreciated . Kind regards. Achim

I'd be quite interested, but I don't know how much they're worth, any idea of demand, or when I might have the money (shutdown and medical stuff is kicking my ass). I'd try and find a way, though, because I want another Speedmaster (with a step dial) since I sold my 145.022 69 ST. I've always liked the color these watches add and have an idea for my own version. The bezel always seemed the long shot. I can buy a Hesalite 3861 and have a seconds hand painted, maybe mix up the subdial hands somehow, but the bezel seemed distant, impossible and improper to recreate or mimic but it's key to the look I'd like.

They are about $300 Australian new from Omega. However they are restricted to exchange only, so that may add some value to them. I don't generally see people modding their normal Speedmasters with these though.

There is one listed on ebay for a few months now, asking usd 255,- . So not much demand but over time i expect these to sell here or on C24.

Hmmm...the insert was never sold as a separate item, so I would personally be wary of anyone selling one as it might not be genuine.

The insert might not have been sold separately by Omega but I also have one of these inserts which I bought some time ago, I have however not managed to find it suiting any of the watches I've installed it on.

Bought for $125 from About Time in 2019

Ah, i missed that, thanks for explaining. What would be the reason ? as my watchmaker ordered some regular and pulsation inserts without metal ring last year.

Did he tell you where they came from? Omega does not sell just the insert for Speedmaster bezels - as long as I have been Omega certified they have never done this.

So either people are removing them from complete bezels to sell them separately (which seems unlikely) or they are "aftermarket" parts, and not Omega.

I know he ordered them from Omega as i watched the screen when i was there, and i only needed the insert but i must be mistaking then about it being just the insert he ordered. He probably just changed the whole part on my watch and did not tell me.
Which certainly makes the one on ebay suspicious, and in low demand.

Is there a way to check if the bezel were genuine or not after installed to the watch?

I would be surprised if the insert I have is not genuine. It also has an indent on the reverse, presumably for alignment to the watch?

Only by comparing it to a genuine bezel and looking for differences. It's not something I've personally looked into though...

Are these bezels compatible with the new 3861 Speedmaster ref. 310.30.42.50.01.001?

Carrier ring is different so no, not really.
Though the insert size is the same so technically you could pop it out of one ring and glue it into the compatible one. I wouldn't, but it is possible to do.

It is aluminum, though, so probably up to the abuse if done carefully.
