I really like the reduced, but the Pro has got something more - "history" ...
The bracelet of the reduced is really nice! Is it the same that older Pros got *except the end links ... ?!?
Congrats to all owners of reduced Speedys - you did nothing wrong! 👍

I'm beginning to get the impression that Speedmaster reduced owners LOVE their watches, and that those who don't love them are those who DON'T own one! Speedmaster reduced owners UNITE!::rimshot:: (I've owned mine for 25 years, and I didn't even know these ere known as "reduced" prior to finding the Omega Message Board!) Had I read about them before I knew what they were, and before I acquired one, I might have been discouraged from acquiring one by what I've read here! I acquired my Speedmaster Apollo II commemorative at the time I acquired my reduced, and i like them equally.

I very much agree with Canuck. Unlike him I did read about it first and bought a mint Speedy 861 with unique serial number. I do love my Speedy, but given its condition and appreciating value, decided to get the wee auto Speedy for everyday use. I'm glad I did, it does get a lot if wrist time, and fitted with a black leather strap not only looks good but feels great. Would I part with it.........no way!

I love both of them, they are different animals and should not really be judged the same way.

On my wrist today as I type. 😀

I sold mine - didn't like the weird off center feeling of the rotor turning

That's strange, I've never felt the rotor turning at all when it's on my wrist.

I owned a Japan-market Automatic Date for 20 years. The 'lurching' inside the case during winding was very pronounced at times, l but never concerned me. I was generally very happy with it, but I must say that I find my Professional considerably more satisfying.

I'll jump in. Recently acquired 3539.50 for my 6.25"wrist. Preferred over the Pro not so much for the cost, but for avoiding the size and especially thickness. The newer model includes sapphire crystal, more Pro-like dial, and an upgraded bracelet. Contined to be amused by all the haters out there.

A question! I have come to think of the Speedmaster reduced as being the hybrid version with the ETA 2892 movement paired with the D D 4500 chronograph module. But is the modern version with the caliber Omega 1150 caliber automatic chronograph also called a reduced?

Another question. Can the ETA part be serviced separately, if for instance anything in the winding system wears out?

No. Those are Speedmaster Automatics. The only watches with "reduced" in the name are the modular chronographs.

If you want half the job done yes...

I was unaware that the "reduced" Speedmaster was ever done with a sapphire crystal. Are you certain that yours is a Speedmaster "reduced", or a Speedmaster automatic?

It's a reduced...

WATCH SP RED. AUTOM. GENT'S | 35395000

Uses an Omega cal. 3220, which is the latest version of the modular chronograph.

Crystal is sapphire - GLASS SAPPHIRE AG1S MET D30.7 H3.9 - 062SL5308

It's one you don't want to break - like the one in the Speedy Pro, it's quite expensive...

I think the speedie reduced is 11.7mm thick.. Not bad and a big change from their current chrono's.
