If you are a regular reader of our Speedy Tuesday publications, you know that there are quite a number of variations on the Omega Speedmaster watch. One of them was this 2012 Omega Speedmaster “First Omega in Space” or FOiS in short. The Omega Speedmaster FOiS was initially introduced in 2012 as a 40th anniversary numbered edition model, to commemorate the fact that astronaut Wally Schirra wore an Omega Speedmaster (CK2998) in 1962 during his Sigma 7 flight. ^^^ AU$20k on a strict exchange rate with the CHF. I bet it'll be a lot more in the Aussie Boutiques I do like it but not sure if the black ring on the dial shouldn't be right out at the edge.
I'm going to play the contrarian and say I don't like the look of it. I'm not a big gold guy though which probably has something to do with it, but generally, it just seems too busy.
I had a chance to see and touch that beauty during an Omega event few days ago. I can tell you it's one of the most beautiful Omega I've ever seen. It's close to perfection. Size / weight is great for a gold watch, the "Brown panda" dial is stunning, What's strking is that this Speed does look like a brand new watch and not the gold version of the Shirra. I have the FOIS and this one is so different. A must have, with a price tag which is not so crazy.
Speedy Tuesday? Tew kewel fer skewel! The FOiS pictured above is phenomenal...thanks for posting it, Robert-Jan. For the record...it's also Turboshot Tuesday at Dunkin' Donuts! Party on...
A nice watch. Probably not for purists or moonwatch history lovers... But anyway, I think this demonstrates the speedy is a great platform to develop new models.
