Just got my Thomas Preik caseback from http://www.customwatchconcepts.com/

Have to say the spacer ring fit perfectly, the caseback was perfect, and the matte finish looks spot on against the Speedmaster mid case.

Had a bit of trouble with the dust cap, accidentially trying to jimmy the entire movement and dial out of the case before realising the dust cap was only the small part on top of the movement.

That's why it's called a watch. Wear it upside down - it's way cooler.

very nice. I like this so much I might just do it myself. Also, I would like to see a video of the watch running. Pictures can't do that caseback justice.

    I'll see what I can do ;)

I have to say though, whether Cal 321, 861, or 1861, the Speedmaster Pro movement is truly beautiful. What you miss in the pictures is that all the different bridges are polished and reflective, and as you vary the angle, different parts glint at different points, the level of finishing even after 45 years on this movement is truly sublime.

Couldn't agree more! Especially the c.321 and 861 with the copper finish. Infact, does anyone know for sure what the exact finish is on those movements?

Wow, thanks. You learn something new every hour... I guess its purpose is to resist corrosion.

Indeed! Certainly seems to work too, mine is not only free of any spec of corrosion but the bridges have a near mirror finish to them

These show how Omega decorated the 863 and 1863 for the displayback

No, the plates never contained any gold, pink or otherwise.

Here is an article that proves the point:

    http://members.iinet.net.au/~fotoplot/rgold/rgold.html

However, there have been gold balance wheels on some Omegas in the past.

    Hope this helps,

No like Gator says. The rumor gets perpetuated buy sellers on eBay and elsewhere that state it is a rose gold plated finish,

Just had another delivery from Thomas Preik, this time a sapphire displayback for my brother's black stainless steel Daytona 116520, this is the model that is the exact same type, style, and height as the OEM Rolex caseback, and the level of finishing is brilliant:

Still have to wait another 6 weeks or so for RSC to finish fixing up the Daytona, its the same black dial that presently looks trashed in the photos in the other thread ;)

Might get another one for his wife's white dial too
