Hi Matty. How about some details like what year it's from? A few more detailed pics of just that watch would be great too. Thanks!

Why does the back plate have seamaster and not speedmaster ?

That was the way some models were over the course of the Speedmaster's history. Couldn't tell you which references, but some guys here could.

Yep Maddox was quote the guru ... apparently speedies were initially introduced as part of the Seamaster range

The 50s and 60s speedmasters had the correct speedmaster case backs, it was more that when they moved to these unusual cases they started using seamaster case backs to save duplicating part production particularly as these were small volume pieces.

* the case back of such watches are all showing the " seahorse " emblem, since all these watches were originally in the* SEAMASTER * line, although the official name of the Jubilee version is:
SEAMASTER - Speedmaster Professional 125 - chronograph

* it is only much later, when the " chronograph " vogue became so voluminous that we had to separate the sporty SEAMASTER watches from the " chronographs " and give them a separate line !
