Hi, A friend and I were comparing our speedmaster and it struck me the cases were quite different. I wish I took a pic - but my 145.022-69 was notably more narrow and the archs on the lugs were more shallow. I've tried to find more info on the various speedy cases but it seems like most of the differences were from the earlier years where they still used the straight lugs. When did Omega start using the 'thicker' speedy case?
Your 145.022-69 is quite old at this point and has lived a long life; there's a good chance it's simply the result of polishing over the course of its lifetime.
that's interesting, so Omega haven't actually changed the case design itself since the late 60s - early 70s?
The 35705000 reference uses the 145022 case (now with an extra digit, so 1450022)...there are variances depending on what case manufacturer was used, but the general design has not changed.
The book Moonwatch Only does not say nothing of interesting about different cases. also because polishing could change cases sides... If you see umpolished cases, you can note differences. Also in 1990 cases you can note differences in side parts. For exemple XX anniversary model has less high sides, perhaps coming from a different supplier.
