I have been looking for a bezel for a 79 speedy daily wearer. Offered this on ebay for £195. Apart from the slight dings it looks in good condition but the text seems a bit thicker. Have seem comments on other forums about something similar being an variant.

Anyone else have this version. Is it a variant or later version and any idea of period, tks M

Looks good to me. Tall writing is correct for a 79. Font on the 8's is good, dot next to 70 and 90. Tail on the 7's as well. But please wait for a second opinion.

Did you buy this on eBay because it sold for £255?

I missed out in the auction to higher bidder. The winner pulled out and I have agreed a price of £195, not paid yet.

Looks like a B2 bezel 1970-1990, all the key features are correct, though yes the fonts not as sharp on B2 as DONs but just checked my B2 and its the same.
    Here are some examples

    Proceed with caution.

Or take it to a watchmaker... it's a quick job.

No watchmakers that I know of in Donegal, Eire so would be sending to UK for any work.

Seen a few of these videos and wedging it off at one point seems risky and could deform the bezel. Has anyone got one of the tools from ebay with the 4 wedges that apply even pressure to remove.

I have one of those. I don't know which is more stressful though, clamping sharp blades to the case or whacking the bezel with a poker chip and hammer.

I'm starting to learn towards spacefruit's method more than the blade thing these days.. all I can say is stay focused on what you're doing while you're doing it and don't think about how much the watch or bezel cost. ;)

The @Spacefruit method? Is that a tantric method to achieve inner calm before doing the deed

Tks for the clarification. Does @Spacefruit sell the poker chips as a special bezel removal tool.

I personally would find the poker chip/hammer option more stressful...but that's just me.

The comments on YouTube are hilarious too - "Next in the series is how to replace an Omega bezel with a hand grenade"
