So, I am well versed on Tudor and have helped a few OFers with questions before on Tudor Subs but I am fairly new to Speedys and looking for some help. Here is a Speedy - 69 or 70. Serial is: 29899872 which I believe is called a 69 (Transitional or after Transitional?) but some site indicate that serial is for a 70. Caseback is: 145022- 69 ST My other major question is to determine how polished or unpolished the case is so I am adding a couple photos to see how fresh the case is. Thank you for your advice.
You're in the serial range for 69 according to speedmaster101, so I'd trust the caseback. Case looks good. Look at how sharp the transitions between brushed and polished surfaces are on the lugs. Another thing this watch has going for it is the DON bezel, which looks to be in pretty much perfect shape and is worth around 2 grand on its own. Here's a good overall guide for that reference: http://speedmaster101.com/145-022-69/
Do you have pictures of the casebook and the lugs? Those pictures will help to determine case condition. The bezel is in great shape.
In your last photo of the Speedmaster on your wrist, note the large bevel between the top and side of the lugs - that's a good indicator of a low level of polish. Generally the watch looks pretty good. The model is 145.022-69, but the 29M serial number range would indicate a production date in the middle of 1970.
The case has no sign of overly polished and the serial number seems acceptable. The Tachymetre bezel with accent E matches matches with movement number around 30 mil. And I have seen other 145.022-69 with high 29 mil movement.
