Speedy 861 Serial Anomaly

A friend showed this picture of a Speedmaster 861 movement with the last 4 digits of the movement drilled. Has anyone encountered anything like this?

ThAts stolen. No other reason why to take it off. My opinion.
Nope that does not denote stolen.

Its a legit watch and in the time period for a little legal issue that required some US sold watches to be drilled like that. Uncommon, very little affect on price. providing the serial puts it around the late 60's early 70's. Scroll through @X350 XJR 's link and there is a nice article on what is going on.

I wonder if Omega will issue an Extract of Archive on these watchs with drilled serial numbers.

Might be a tad hard as you need the full serial number...

I'm pretty sure the guys at CSI could "zoom and enhance" that serial and make it legible. 😀
