A Speedmaster Mark 2 or the straight writing caseback with 'Apollo X1 1969' is what I am lusting for.

What a great story! I have never been one for the "birthyear watch" but this is evidence that you can get very close to it if you know what you are looking for and what you are looking at. Well done! Unfortunately I will never have a Speedmaster birth year watch as that would require a house re-mortgage and a sale at Christies. 🙁
