Good day folks Wanted to see what the hive mind thought of this recent find. I have been spending more time than I should on trying to learn all the intricacies of the Speedmaster and have the sacred Moonwatch Only bible. When I saw this example I thought it ticked all the boxes, but I am sure that there is indeed potential for disappointment hidden in every golden cloud. I tried to really focus on condition this time around. My findings thus far: 145.022-69 with a 30 serial number No extract yet but dates to August 70 according to ILoveMySpeedmaster C1 Medium S Step Dial in great condition B1 Dot Diagonal 70 Bezel in pretty remarkable condition in my opinion. C2 Baton Flat hands in good condition A4 Speedmaster in Center SIngle Bevel caseback HF145022-69 ST A2 24-Narrow Angular Foot crown A2 short foot crystal (unfortunately cracked) 1039/516 71 bracelet in very good condition Case looks unpolished with little wear What do you think? I will of course be sending for a service and replacing the crystal.
Okay I see what you mean. Light polishing anyway... Would be good to see the crown side... Because the opposite side seems IMO really sharp and untouched... Nice watch! This dial.... Still a passion for me!
Ask and you shall receive! Here’s a 360 view. I have yet to acquire the eye for polishing though I can clearly see when edges are lost and rounded. Sometimes looking down at this one I almost think it's too clean.. My examples are typically a bit more "rough around the edges" and everywhere else for that matter.
To make that clear: Great looking watch, no reason to complain about the case which looks very, very good!! Sorry for the misunderstanding: I thought you are thinking of buying it - but you already bought so congrats!!
I have seen two other speedys with the crystal cracked in the same location. Must be something with swinging arms. Thanks for sharing. Beauty. Remember, don't stare at your watch and drive.
Luckily I can stare at all I want on the Tube here in London and try to imagine that everything will be okay.
Thanks sir. It was enlightening to take the “educated collector” approach for once rather than the gut impulse. Thanks for the edumacation OF Posse.
Good day folks.. or is it... these times are so confusing. I sent off for an extract for this piece and it came back today. I was a a bit surprised to see it came from Hong Kong before it made its way to England.
