There are several Speedmasters coming up on September 12th in London. The later 145.022's look quite interesting at the low estimates. There is at least one assembled 145.012. A tropical not so tropical 105.003 A half decent, not without problems 2998. Remember Wok charges nearly 28.5% if you buy online with a credit card. If anyone gets eyes on these perhaps they can report? My view here: http://speedmaster101.com/blog/watches-of-knightsbridge-sale-12-september-2015/
Regarding lot 234, an Ed White, 105.003, I couldn't make out if this was a correct dial with Ts or a more valuable 2998 dial without Ts. I asked the auctioneer for clarification and was initially told the dial had no Ts. To their credit, the next day a closer inspection, and 2nd email, revealed the very faint Ts. See the provided picture attached. Is this a perhaps a rarer High Swiss T dial? Opinions?
It's late here and I've had a few scoops, and my maths may well be wrong, but if they are charging 18% buyers premium and then 20% on top of that, and then they add a credit card charge, that works out at a heck of a lot more than 28.5%
VAT is due on buyers premium only, unless a trade lot and marked as so. The 3.6% internet charge is added in, I am not quite sure where - I guess onto the premium, so VAT is chargeable on that. So I think it works like this: Bid 1000 Premium 18% 180 Internet charge 3.9% 39 VAT 20% of Premium 43.8 Total 1262 AND THEN if you pay by CC Add 2% 25.25 Making a grand total of 1288.05 (on a bid of 1000) It is possible the internet charge is added in some where else which will make a small difference.
I have updated the page to show results. Also adjusted my calculations regarding what you actually pay, although I am still confused if the internet charge is VAT chargeable, if not then the total is 27.7% instead of 28.8% as above. http://speedmaster101.com/category/blog/
FYI I posted pictures of the 2998 in this thread: https://omegaforums.net/threads/2998-with-bracelet-coming-up-at-knightsbridge.28702/ Anything we can take away about the market from the results of this auction? A few Speedy's didn't sell. The 2998 sold for the low end of the estimate (it has its issues). People exercising caution? Not enough good examples to make any conclusions? Too early in the season to come to any conclusions?
It's difficult to make any conclusions. I think a lot of collectors want to buy 321 models, so the 145.012 become expensive too. And 4.500GBP + premium for this BT, wow !
I don't come often in this Forum but for info, I bought from them, they are good guys I must say with reactive communication.
Thanks Spacefruit, dial is not in perfect shape but these wide bezel all black dials Cosmonaute are not easy to find and this one looked all original. OT: I sent a message to Mick Tock, which has shown one before here. I would appreciate to share the serial with him, trying to make a little table on the 6/7 black wide bezel I have seen in internet for the moment.
A very rare watch indeed. Another user on here has one.. I'll PM you his info so you can compare notes
Sorry, this becomes more and more off topic. Reply sent. Here is my Cosmonaute, case number less than 500 apart: I would appreciate any pointers to a suitable spare crystal. Cheers, Mick
