A lot of X-33s were issued with military patches engraved on the caseback from different units, its probably just one of those.

The watch you saw is one that was part of the Omega military purchase program. Watches were customized with unit insignia, etc.
DO a google image search and you will find quite a few examples.

Let me makes this thread more interesting.
Here is a picture of the watch the OP was referring to.

Thanks. Very interesting.
I notice they are all US units, is the "Omega military purchase program" just for US units?
I am aware of the Seamaster 300's with UK special forces insignia etc.

Omega's been doing it for countries all over the world as far back as the 1950s, Peru, Afghanistan, Pakistan, UK have all had military special orders along with many others

Edit - sorry this post went on for so long - could not stop myself from digging deeper...you've been warned 😀

Here's a link to some more info:
http://www.mwrforum.net/forums/showthread.php?16076-My-New-Omega-X33-with-Naval-Aviator-caseback

It's an interesting (cynical) change to the concept of military ISSUE watches like the milsub and sm300. Omega has actually found a way to get military people to PAY for their watches. Apparently, the stipulation is that you cannot sell it for the first 5 years of ownership. Very clever PR.

Here is the Seamaster equivalent:

The website is really worth exploring by the way.

As more and more collectors discovered this psuedo military linkage, other ahem...entrepreneurs started to jump in on the bandwagon. The most notorious being this (now banned) guy:

And his "friend", who actually referred to it as a "milsub":

They even hit the vintage Rolex forum:

And now we have someone is listing this "commissioned by the Royal Navy" Deepsea for almost 50k:
