Hi Omega Forumers, I found this 90/91 Speed, the watch is beautiful, but has e "little" issue... case serial number is a little different from movement serial number, 4 units difference!! Someone has ever seen something like this? What do you think about it? Glad to receive your opinion F
Yes I have one currently in my possession. It’s actually a rare Mitsukoshi with 2 Mitsukoshi serials which have been verified by the Omega Museum. They have no genuine explanation to it. I would honestly put this down to being a franken but to have a Mitsukoshi with two Mitsukoshi serial numbers has to be impossible seen as they only made 300 as we know! I genuinely think that it has to be one of the following. • The watch has been serviced along with another Mitsukoshi and the movements have been placed in the wrong watches • or an error at the factory in manufacturing when it was put together. In short we will never know but it does interest me to how this came about. D
Franken by factory (wrong assembly)? Because I think it's not easy to find movement and case so close, only 4 numbers. I know the owner, the watch was bought in 1991 in an official dealer. Would you buy it? Price is interesting,
I am inclined towards a factory error too. Not much of a negative, and I am sure both numbers will come back Speedmaster for the extract maniacs.
So spend $300 on 2 extracts? Why bother. Move on and find a watch where the serials match. I can see why following up a Mitsu or Alaska with mismatched but correct serials is worth while but not with a std Moonwatch. Use the Occam’s razor principle. Cut away the shit.
Quite possibly but on a less valuable recent example wouldn’t it be better to just have a matching numbers?
It's not impossible. If someone has the reverse Speed we solve the problem I'm considering buy it but I'm not sure
I'm with @padders. Why bother? These aren't hard to find. Just buy one without any risk/questions/hassle.
Depends what the ‘interesting’ price is. If it was cheap enough I wouldn’t care too much, I’d have it as a beater.
I see Speed "proposed" at 3600-3800 and more, but I don't know the real sell price. For RS dial i think isn't under 3500-3600, prices have risen a lot. In 2013 a perfect 90 Speed, SR dial, 1800 euro and I didn't buy it...
