Objective and non-judgemental review IMO. He's comparing two watches that ordinarily shouldn't be reviewed side-by-side -- one is a tool watch, the other a beautiful piece of hand craftmanship. Even if I was a billionaire, I wouldn't use the PP as a tool watch, I just feel it's kind of an insult to the craftsmen and women who made it.

You'd kinda expect that... given that they're selling both watches. ;)

    There's an assumption.
I think the craftsman would like it used. They can always repair it. Money isn't any object.

I kept thinking the reviewer would bash the two watches together, the way he holds & wave then around.

Here he is saying a speedmaster cost 4000 GDP and I've seen on a thread that a guy on ebay is selling only a speedmaster bezel for that amount.
    What is happening??

If it is, maybe a more apropos comparison would be Toyota Corolla vs Lotus Elise!

Would be intetering to see 5070 vs 105.003.... :D

Not to say I don't get it, the pp is in a different league of luxury.

Hopefully they spend some of that budget on better training for their watchmakers...

It would be Celica, not Corolla.

I was talking about the motor - both cars used the same Toyota engine for a while, which would be the best comparison if both that Patek and Speedy housed movements based on the same caliber.

Yeah. The Celica and Elise both used the 2ZZGE engine.

"What do you think? Do you think the Patek Philippe justifies it cost?"

First, what they are referring should probably be called the 'price' rather than the 'cost'.

Second, it's a rather asinine question, isn't it? Even the Omega Speedmaster is no longer a 'rational' decision and so there is no way to 'justify' the price other than by what people are willing to pay for a non-essential luxury good.

Third, there is an extremely small subset of the population who can consider buying a PP. For those who can, there probably isn't any consideration of whether it is 'justified'. The very nature of the question is such that it would only ever be answered by people to whom it doesn't even apply. Is there any value in making a video comparing a Salisbury steak tv dinner to Kobe Wagyu beef and asking unemployed people if they think the Wagyu cost is justified? ::facepalm2::

Fun fact is that that engine was actually developed by Yamaha.

When your feeding a cow food that could feed a starving village for months
( including large amounts of chocolate ) just to make a cow obese so it tastes a little bit better but costs a hell of a lot more.
Not going to get into this one :whistling:
