·I know there are endless discussions on water resistance but what about UV protection. I have just conducted an unplanned and slightly painful test and I am happy to report (at least for modern Speedmasters like 9300 / 3861) the UV protection level offered for the user appears to be 100% even at higher altitudes.
I don’t know if the first Speedmasters offered the same protection level or if that degrades over time for a vintage watch. Does the switch to a JB champion or NASA Velcro impact the specification. I don’t think UV protection was part of the NASA tests but it might have been a fringe benefit which impacted the selection? - another untold story perhaps? I also worry I might have caught too much sun this week - feeling a bit light headed :0)
