Could anyone give me some more information about this watch? It was given to my father by his uncle, but j have no idea what year it is. would also be good to know the worth of this watch.
It's a 2998 (probably a 2998-2 but maybe a -1), and looks to be largely original which is important. A nice watch with significant value. Check out wee.speedmaster101.com
And you have no idea what year it might be? Have a watchmaker remove the case back and post a couple of scans of the inside of the case back and movement showing the serial number. I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses even a couple of PMs offering to buy your Father's watch.

That's a nice early 1960's CK2998 Speedmaster with alpha hands, lollipop seconds hand and a Base 1000 bezel. Very collectable and value wise probably upwards of €25K.
maybe a mod could clean up the these two (three) different threads. i remember double posting more than once and feeling "duh!" afterwards. nice watch, don't let any repair hacks alter it besides a movement service... no polish, no reface or replace.
One of my favorite words is 'archconservative'. Until now, I never had reason to believe it could be applied to cost estimates.
