Speedy Tuesday – OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Snoopy

This week's Speedy Tuesday theme is the Limited Edition Snoopy Speedmaster, released to commemorate the Speedmaster being issued NASA's Silver Snoopy Award in connection to the events aboard the Apollo 13 aborted moon landing

Possibly the most requested LE Speedmaster I get besides the 35th Anniversary Panda. An amazing watch :)

Did he have one? I know a while back George had a Snoopy that was BNIB and untouched which would have gone for a fair bit

No, he didn't or I would have bought it. That's ok, I am looking at a transitional speedy now.

Do you ever see those '75 Soyuz models? A birth year speedy is on my short list :D

I saw one before at a show. I do have a 1168 bracelet for that watch in stock. No watch though. Those run very very expensive.

Have you seen one of our members has the 18K Solid gold version of that '75 Soyuz, a far rarer bird indeed!

We've also got someone here with a Speedmaster that spent a year on the MIR space station, not sure what those ones go for now, complete with a VHS tape

That would be nice to read up on. I remember speaking with someone who had an x-33 that went to space. Some great space stuff!

Thanks for another excellent addition to the Speedy Tuesday theme. Never having seen a Snoopy Speedy in the flesh, can anyone let me know what the Snoopy image on the caseback is made from? It appears in photos to be glossy rather than matt, so is it enamel, glass or a coating of some form of plastic? How does it wear? Thanks in advance for any replies.

These are painted on the inside of sapphire, so completely durable.

from my handling this is correct. It is an enamel paint on the inside. I have a 35th Apollo Anniversary in for a client and it is as quoted

I had one a few years ago. Paid $2900 and it sat on the sales forums forever until I gave it away at $2500. Amazing huh?

    It is number 11XX

The photo shows the light splitting the glass and paint behind the sapphire a little more clear
