I Bought this a while back and am know thinking of moving it on. To get the best price I was going to restore it to it's original spec. I Have the original hands but I was going to replace the inner tension ring with a black one. I contacted Duncan at Genesis watches and he said the hands are no problem to replace but the silver inner ring is right for this reference. Is this right as my other 003 has a black inner ring. However he can replace it using the more modern glass which has a black inner ring, but would this look wrong?

    • Incabloc, I have found an eBay seller ,general vintage, who stocks the original watch glasses with the small logo for £45.

Silver retaining ring is correct up to early 105.003-63's, this is also supported by the new bible Moonwatch Only. This is mine with its original hands as well.

My 105.003-65 came with the original crystal and the ring is black. This one was sold in 1967 but i'm sure that, if one would have serviced his 2915/2998/105.002 even back then and would have been in need of a crystal, any Omega authorized service center would have installed the correct part.
I'm sure that at least for the 105.003-65 dials, it came with the black tensions ring as the steel one is a bit wider and would have partially covered the T Swiss Made T marking at 6.

Hmmm. I don't know...Seems just the same to price according to what you've got there already. Buyer could spend to 'restore' the way he/she prefers, no?

Your call, just my 2 cents

Cost to restore,as I already have the hands , will be approximately £200. Think I will leave as is and try to sell it. Can one of the moderators contact me with regards to getting permission to list it.
