Hi all ! New to this forum/site but looks like an amazing trove of knowledge so far and I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time on here !

Did Omega ever change the Chronograph layout of the Speedmaster ? I've seen a couple listings on a pretty reputable site (that I have purchased many other items from and never had any problems) for a Speedmaster 32103 or 34737 (both listed) "special edition" copper face but I noticed the chronograph dials are at 12, 9, and 6 where most images online of any Speedmasters the dials are all at 3, 6, and 9 except for the co-facials.

Any help you can provide is appreciated !!! Screenshot_20170606-224821.jpg Thanks

Several special edition models released in Japan like the one above.

Also yes there is several with the same dial layout

I'm not 100% sure if this is the same (and too lazy to look up for you today ) but have seen this dial colour before.

..and you mean Standy should have that little time to spare to find it out for you :)?

Try searching co-axial for now, could be the answer to your question.

The watch the OP shows is significantly different to this, the bezel appears to be one piece and the engraving looks off to me, the crown too is different but I have seen something like that elsewhere. I am not saying it isn't a legit Japanese market edition but I would want to do a lot more homework before parting with cash. Something about it doesn't feel quite right to me.

Well I got a picture of the back of the watch and it does say "40th Anniversary" above and around the standard Speedmaster Logo. Beneath that in slightly smaller cursive lettering it says "Grand Prix".

Another thing I thought was interesting, although I haven't looked closely enough at many other images of the crowns, but on this watch the crown is an octagon shape is that a typical Omega thing I have just never noticed ?

My gut is it is a legit 1997 model with a cal 1155, some flavor of a 3511. Its the cousin of this one in yellow. http://geb.ebay.in/g/ImportHubViewItem?itemid=151692226513Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network The finish is too good to be a fake IMHO. I'd still want to see the caseback and movement to double check as I would want on any watch.

There are a lot of different Japan only models out there, with little to no documentation from this time period.

    ::EDIT::

Found the model. Its a 3511.60 It appears the hands should be silver, which can make them look white or very dark depending on how the picture was taken.

Wow ! That was pretty fast ! I thought I spent a lot of time and wasn't able to find anything at all. I've never heard of the timepeaks.com site but at least it looks like this was a valid model but still doesn't necessarily mean this one is authentic right ?

I read in some other threads that even if I took it to an actual Omega store they wouldn't be able to verify authenticity, do you know if that is true ? And/or what would be the best way to do so, if not through them ?

    Thanks again !

No they will not verify. I highly doubt it's fake, fakes from that period are pretty obvious. Like I said you want a caseback and movement shot to verify 100%. Also better shots to make sure the hands are silver.

Cal. 1152, pink dial, silver hands. Would have originally come on a 1469/813 bracelet.

Thank you, that is incredibly helpful ! I appreciate it. Last question, if I do get it what is the best place to get new or used Omega watch bands ? I don't really care for the grey leather one they put on there and will probably switch to a metal band or a black leather band with clasp. Any recommendations ?

The bracelet is still available from Omega, so any Omega AD or boutique should be able to order one for you.

    Cheers, Al
