    Greetings,
Old aged but Newbie to these watches.
I've done a lot of trawling on the interweb regarding serial numbers etc. without success, yes there is plenty of info out there but not exactly what I'm looking for.
So I thought I would join a forum and post some quetions.

    From my searches................
On a vintage watch where exactly would the serial number be found if not on the back of a lug? (link to photo would be good).
Are the serial numbers and movement numbers usually the same?
If the number on the movement was 27xxxxxx could this indicate the approx' year of make? (perhaps 1968).
For a case back stamped -74, would the movement number be in the range 31xxxxxx-39xxxxxx?

Apologies for all the question on my first message.

    Lance

Serial onthe lug is a modern thing for Omega.

For vintage, the serial is on the movement.

    27mil is around 67-68 I believe.

Serial ranges can be found at sites like soeedmaster101, or books like moonwatch only.

    So as I see it, either it is a 1969 movement with a 1974ish case back or a 1974 watch with a 1969ish movement.....Yes?
    Does that make sense?

If you're talking about a specific watch why not post some pics?

You’ll get help here investigating if you post pics of the dial, movement etc BEFORE you purchase... as many ppl do. No fun to discover issues with a watch after you buy.

Unless it's dirt cheap I would look elsewhere.

Inner caseback - says ‘74 so would expect serial of around 32- whereas you have a 27-.
Dial Lume plots are faded a bit + hands seem replaced with the wrong hands, and is missing Lume

Not sure what dirt cheap is these days for a genuine ‘69, but I’d look for another

Do more research of the references and here’s a photo to compare. See the hands?....

On the subject of cheapness from you peeps.
I may be way out here 'cause I'm a new recruit, but would £1,500.00GBP be thought to be cheap?

Side 1 - May be the right price here, but you’d also want to consider price to make it correct, if you care. Also, is that case ok to you? How do you like it’s lines as compared to that on S...101.com ....

Side 2 - No purchase is cheap enuf if not researched. Without seeing the rest of the movement, can’t tell if it’s a mosh pit of parts thrown in or condition. Assuming movement is good n correct, caseback could be another cost.

Only you can say what u like in Speedy 69. Or is it a ‘74? :whistling:

Time costs too so what’s it worth to ya?

I'm not unduly fussed as to its condition, a '69 movement in a '74 case is fine by me. I just would like to own an Omega Speedmaster.
    BTW wysiwyg....no strap,box,papers etc
Regarding the movement there are no damaged screw slots, but I wouldn't know if that means it's original untouched or a collection of parts.
