Dear all ,once again I apologise for my ignorance but this vague interest is becoming an all consuming obsession and I get the feeling that many of you have trodden this lonely path before me What seems like a short time ago I was happy in my ignorance and wore my bi metal sub with pride ,I now have an addiction seeing 75watches in a collection ranging from an entire dirty dozen to various longings ,iwc, jlc, and our beloved omegas. Which brings me to this can anyone point me in the direction of an information resource that explains the different models and calibres etc This may be a lifelong addiction for some of you but I have to learn quick a I am almost certainly making huge mistakes along the way Many tanks in advance Tony I have added a photo of a recent addition ī would welcome opinions on . Solid 18ct gold day date semester with a 752cal movement 1968year of manufacture
Hi, we would love to see more of your watches when you get the time! Most would probably agree that "OMEGA: A Journey Through Time" by Marco Richon and the newer book on Speedmasters "Moonwatch Only: The Ultimate Omega Speedmaster Guide by Grégoire Rossier (Author), Anthony Marquié (Author) " are the most comprehensive on Omegas. There are many others but those would be my short list.
For Constellations and Dynamics this is The Font of Knowledge: http://omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.com/
Thanks Standy apologies if I am appearing over zealous I just have a feeling I may be rushing in where angels fear to tread . Re the watch above i read on another post that the quick set date is rare .this watch has that feature which I assumed was standard, is it ?
Uncle Buck I will post a few box set picks when I get home later in the week ,I would really appreciate any feedback you guys can give
Nice collection, you have been quite busy! Your WWW's and porcelain dials are very nice. Where's the tdmp?
I can only really comment on your first watch box, as i dont collect military watches, but you have a nice selection in the first box - 3 hummers (f300's) which I presume are working? I say this because they are difficult to service unless you have a specialist nearby. Some of the gold ( plated, capped or solid, its hard to say without more information) looked overpolished, but you have a nice geneve driver watch there, and a nice looking UG You probably now need to slow down on the buying, and consolidate on an area or theme that you connect with? As mentioned above, a true speedmaster moonwatch or a constellation or a diving watch of somekind are the obvious omissions Cheers paul Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Ok guys thanks for the coments Firstly Buck I am new to this so what's a tdmp? I know it's probably obvious but hey Secondly Paul you are right I do need to slow down However first reduced speedy on route along with a couple of conies .it appears from the forums most guys like conies the most vintage speediest seem beyond my means at the mo but just bought a constelation this week ,I will post more details of stuff next week as long as it's not boring anyone ,I really appreciate honest opinions even if I have dropped the biggest bollock it's all about learning Military seems simple to the vastness of omega world lol Confession those boxes are less than half ! Cheers Tony
Buck if you like the www I will post my precious mint grana ! Any ideas on the tiny warren it's marked ATP (armytime piece ) on the rear but I can't find any info on Warren -Swiss made movement marked warren trading Corp ? Cheers Tony
Triple date moon phase =tdmp I'm sorry, Tony, somehow I felt you had mentioned having a triple date but I must have been drinking. We would love to see these beauties up close and personal and there are people here that can answer most all questions. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them, I just know what I like!
