I have been learning a lot about the speedmaster heritage from browsing the forums for a couple months. My grandmother passed away about a year ago and left me some of her inheritance. I decided I would finally get a nice watch. I was originally looking at the rolex gmt II, but after finding the speedmaster it was game over. I finally bit the bullet today and bought the speedmaster professional sapphire sandwhich in Singapore from the boutique on Orchard Road while on deployment. It was between that and the hesalite, but the display back and feel of the sapphire won me over. I would like to thank @Archer and everyone else for the advice and knowledge to help me make this informed decision. I'll be sure to post better pictures of it back in the states in a few months with my Canon 60D when I get the chance. Now time to start adding some leather straps for the new speedie!

    Thank you! Can't wait to get back home. Speedie is still on its first wear, gonna be worn every day, even in the air.

    @squidward...

    Helicopter!

    Gotta be either -53 Echo's or -60's. Foxtrot's? Romeo's? Sierra's?

    Former -60 Bravo driver here...good to have another rotor head here at OF.

    :thumbsup:

    Nice. The speedy is the only 'modern' Omega I'm considering.

    I thought the forum rule was only one rotorhead allowed at any time ::confused2::

    Oh, hang on, @Mad Dog is an ex-rotorhead, sorry, my booboo.

    ;)

    @JimInOz...I ain't no ex-rotorhead...once a rotorhead, always a rotorhead...and my current FAA license says rotorhead...so neener, neener, neener. :p

    Also, by my count there are currently at least 3 rotorheads at OF... @squidward, @Charlie3755 and myself...we are taking over...total world domination. :thumbsup:

    Very cool, @squidward...I had to Google 'MQ-8B' since I've been out of the loop for a wee bit (I left active duty in 1992). Flying the Fire Scout sounds pretty cool...and what's even cooler is that you're dual qualified in skin-in-the-game rotors as well as UAV rotors. Very cool. :cool:

    Whoops, three of you now :eek:

    :whipped:

    I consider myself chastised.

    And a salute to civil and military, active and "ex" rotorheads everywhere.

    Quite possibly, the one group of airmen who have done more for humanity than any other.

    @JimInOz ...some rotorheads have rotorhead screen savers.

    My old ride from back in the day...the SH-60B Seahawk...

    I had a screensaver for awhile, of a picture I took while SPIE rigging from a CH53, looking up at the helo. Made for a cool view
