I have been a member here since late 2016, I introduced myself and set an avatar in December 2017.
Now I make my first contribution to this great forum, introducing my Speedmaster Rhodium:

The watch is put together with new and nos original Omega parts so not a proper Franken. And I know modded watches are not to everyones liking but hopefully no one is offended by this Baby Franken.

    Cheers

No comments at all.... guess people think its a normal rhodium plated movement.
Was preparing for some positive comments and lots of negative since its not all original from Omega.
I really like it, slightly different from a normal Speedy and still looks like a factory issued watch.
Even showed it to a friend that has a Black SMPc, and he thought they all(Speedmasters) looked like this.

    Just a hand swap?

Interesting look seems like readability might suffer a bit. Silver hands on a black dial and all.

    It’s not blasphemy it’s a hot rod.

Good that you like it. Its actually spare parts put together, but yes, basically a hand swap.
In some light, at some angles it is hard to read but most of the time its really good.

It oddly seems to backdate the watch. Love the strap. I’m not sure I’d do it but I like it!

I do not know if it is true that service cases does not have a serial number but this case does not have one.
The nos 861 movement with steel brake does not have a serial either.

Maybe someone know for sure if service cases and movements never have serial numbers?

If anything, the movement should have the serial number.

What he said. Nothing should leave the factory without a number on it.

That's not the case as things are never as black and white as people believe.

The OP asked if service cases and movements never have a serial number. In reality sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. It depends very much on the watch as some movements simply do not have serial numbers, so their replacements would not have one either. In addition, the escape wheel bridge that has the serial number on it can be ordered with or without a number. If ordered with a number the old bridge must be sent to Omega so there would not be two with the same number on them.

Replacement cases can be ordered with a serial number or not.

    Cheers, Al

    Wonderful information. Good to know.

Does that mean that if my case has dings I can choose to replace it instead of polishing it and order one with the same serial number as replacement?

It's a beauty and looks to be a very efficient design.
