Well, according to my records, it looks like I purchased a Speedy Reduced in pristine condition, full set in June 2011. And sold it in July 2011. Gave me no joy at all. 👎

If anyone feels like they want to take a break from their Reduced and see if they miss it let me know and I can PM you my address.

If you buy it, life on Earth as we know it will end and it will be your fault. Nah, just kidding. Buy it. 😀

Thanks @MtV . I've been idly looking at the older 3510.50 (Hesalite, chance of tritium) but I'm now actually open to the 3539.50 (sapphire) as it has better WR, a "cleaner" dial and improved bracelet. Tbh I have other watches that are acrylic'n'tritium so something that actually glows and will be a bit more robust might be a good idea. I'm a fisherman too so better WR is always a plus.

@JetLinks - yes, I think the move away from tritium was 1998-ish (iirc) and I've certainly seen some 3510.50 that seem to have it. Nice trio by the way.

The 3539.50 certainly has closer Moonwatch dial design and the sapphire makes it very wearable.

You could also consider the 3520.50.

Dial's a bit busy. Got a headache just looking at it!

Agreed. Looks like you know which one you should get 😉

Forget the Speedy reduced and get the midsize Bond Seamaster from the late 90s, which will have lovely tritium patina. Not a chrono, but ticks all your other boxes!

Mine's Superluminova, but the midsize is actually really lovely on the wrist.

might also mean you have to sell fewer Smiths. 😗

just my £0.02.

I had one but just didn't, er, Bond with it. (Sorry. But it's true.)

So do you want a 90`s watch design battle? Nice move Sir! Here`s mine:

Price and worth is pretty equal from the looks 😉

So do I want the 3510.50 (pros: hesalite, can get yellow tritium, cheaper; cons: cluttered dial) or 3539.50 (pros: simpler, "Speedier" dial, better bracelet, better WR; cons: sapphire -- well, I'm kind of neutral on that actually.)

I think it comes down to the dial.

Me too. But that's finely balanced. Yellow tritium but with the silly numbers by each marker or the cleaner SL with longer batons and the Speedy dots.

Ach, I think price dictates the Tritium anyway. And I also think I prefer the hesalite.

I debated this for a long while as I have a smaller wrist diameter. In the end, I'll probably end up with both.

Another fun fact and reason to buy: 47 Jewels! Who has 47 Jewels in one watch?
OK you can`t see them but you KNOW that they are right on your wrist 😉

😁

I think I've decided: a 3510.50 with the yellowiest lume I can find. Don't need a bracelet with it. And have just realised I don't have enough posts to put a WTB up. Rather than engage in stupid speed(master) posting can I make this a stealth WTB? No? Oh, OK. 😎

Oh, you can just post something along the lines of “Looks good / I’d say redial but hopefully more knowledgeable members will reply soon” in ~120 threads, it’s not like that’s unheard of. 😁

Joking aside: Good luck with your search and please do share a wrist shot once you’ve found one!

The older ones age nicely...😀
I think you'll like it. I have a 7" wrist and I like the way it wears.

I know, I know -- "you'll regret not getting a Professional" / "servicing is a pain" / "it's not really a Speedmaster" etc etc.

Yeah, I get all that but

1.) I like 36mm - 38mm watches

2.) I like 18mm lugs

3.) I like autos

4.) er, that's all.

So I'm thinking of a Speedy Reduced but it would have to have nicely aged Tritium markers and hesalite. Because I also like vintage watches and few things please me more than vanilla lume on a black dial.

Talk me out of it!

I’ve had mine for 27 years. Worn it daily, as a chef in the kitchen! Serviced once 15 years ago when it didn’t cost the price of a new one.
Works perfectly, automatic is great, wear it daily and I never have to adjust or wind it.
Not to big so it doesn’t look blingy but the thickness and off-set buttons give it an exotic touch. Best watch I ever got.

I bought my Speedmaster before I bought my Speedmaster reduced. That was 32 years ago, before I became introduced to the negative attitude of many toward the reduced. And also, about 25 years during which to wear and enjoy the reduced, before I became active on the Omega board. Only then did I read the opinions of the naysayers! I much prefer my reduced to my Speedmaster!
