Ist this a fragment of the original red seal at the case in the middle of the spring bar?

    speedy_seal_800.jpg

Which years or models this seal was used? Are there pictures anywhere to see how a complete seal looked like when the Speedmaster left the factory?

The transparent sticker on the back is mine - I always protect the caseback with stickers (I change them often) just to avoid scratches from the metal bracelet or Nato strap.

Almost certainly it is the original red seal I would think. I’ve seen a few over the years.

    Thank you.

I saw the seal on a watch some month ago and the seal covered only the middle of the caseback. Did it cover the complete caseback?

After having just had a discussion with @Archer recently (who I believe must be the most wonderful watchmaker on this planet) I think that your red seal looks different from what I've seen before, especially considering watches I bought.

This seal doesn't look genuine to me.

That is how a seal on my AT8500 Skyfall looks like. To be honest i was surprised to find a seal when i removed the bracelet. I thought they stoped sealing cases some years ago. But it looks exactly the same like the one on my previous SMP.

Part of the Red seal on my 145.012-67.
Call me crazy, but I see (part of) the Omega logo stamped on this wax seal.

That seems to be a non-original red seal. Omega no longer uses red seals on new watches (or blue seals on serviced watches neither). I know Omega service centers had the red ink available as well as the blue one back in the day they used those markings so a watch with a red seal didn't necessarily meant was sealed from factory

I‘ll go with genuine on OP‘s one.
The big sloppy red seal is what I see/saw on some watches especially from the late 80‘s throughout the 90‘s.
The small red dot seal is from newer watches, up intim at least 2007/8.

    Feel free to compare:

Speedmaster 3590, bought from the original owner from the seller who sold it to me (I have no reason to doubt his statement) same serial range as OP 48...

Seamaster PO 2201.50 I bought NOS from the original owner (small red dot)

I don’t have a caseback pic from my 2254, also bought from the original owner, never serviced in his possession, from 2007, also the small red dot like on the P.O..

At some point omega stopped the seal on the back. Not sure when. I assume sometime around 2010/11 with the introduction of the modern sapphire casebacks on most model lines, at least I‘ve not seen one with a wax seal, IIRCC.

    Cheers,

    Max

    Hi @Speedmasterfan88,
the Warranty Card of my Aqua Terra is signed with 07/2015, and it is a sapphire caseback. I am aware of the fact that the actual production date was earlier. (see picture in my previous post). I dont get it..

Anyone else has an Aqua Terra with a red seal on their caseback?

Interesting thanks! So the small red dot remained for a lot longer then I thought!

I've no info. on when Omega stopped put the red dot on the caseback, but my Planet Ocean doesn't have any dots.

The red and blue dots were discontinued as of June 1, 2015.

you could charge even more if you used the right brand of paint...;)
