I think the date works just fine.

Going to two registers and including a date is what made me even add a Speedy to my list, particularly your model. Lovely.

The best looking modern Speedy IMHO.

I have considered picking this one up for a while now, simply because I want a Speedy with a white face but don't want to pay the premium for the Snoopy or other limited editions.

As for the straps, I do like the perforated leather racing strap with the orange accents. Really goes well with this watch. However, the white stitching looks amazing on this watch. When I purchased my DSoTM the OB threw in flat calfskin Leather Strap with white stitching that will go perfectly with this watch. IMO the flat calfskin is a much better look than the alligator strap.

I love this Speedy. Just got one, well worth it. My first Speedmaster!
