I was on the fence about purchasing a Moonwatch when the 2012 Speedmaster Racing caught my eye. I couldn't pass it up given it was less expensive than the Moonwatch and had the co-axial escapement and COSC chronometer certification which the Moonwatches don't have. I am thrilled with the Speedy 3330 so far! Accuracy is on point. I would be interested to hear from Moonwatch owners what they think of the 3330. I know there is a debate about whether it is truly in an house movement or not, given that it was commission from ETA.

In house is a marketing term.
It’s impossible to define, esp since Omega and ETA are part of the same company, and ETA makes lots of so called in-house movements for other brands LOL.

nice pieces those racing’s, it’s older brother and what it replaced says hello!

Beautiful speedy!! Thanks for showing it off. Love the white dial. Does the older version have the date corrector on the left side or is it operated by the crown?

Left side, they are almost the same movement with an eta 7750 base, the racing has the addition of the co-axial

Luminova which is present on all Speedmasters after 1989, does not degrade.

Thanks for the info. It remains to be seen whether the co-axial escapement and silicone balance spring actually reduce the service intervals to once every 10 years, compared to about 5 with a standard swiss lever escapement. Really enjoying the watch. Still kind of want to get a hand wound Moonwatch but the new ones seem a little gimmiky to me with the inscriptions on the back.

By the way, I think the date corrector on the left side is an awesome feature. In my experience, the less you need to manipulate the crown and stem the longer the crown/stem assembly will last.

whats the gimmick? The 861/1861 were certified in 1978, went around the moon, and on the STS program, and are still used to this day for every launch and landing of the Soyuz system...

Had the Speedy Racing on rubber with yellow from a few years back. I sold it because in the end it felt a little small, but I will say it kept great time, looked great and I really enjoyed the way it wound and the pushers felt during clicking.

Amazing history most definitely. I'm just bitter I don't have the money for a Moonwatch yet :)

I agree with all that you've said. Luckily the 40 mm is a perfect size for me.

I agree the racing could be a bit bigger. It’s a really understated watch. I like it as a daily wear that fits under the shirt cuff.

Am currently weighing up going for the Speedmaster Racing 40 mm or saving for a Moonwatch. The design of the Moonwatch is preferred but the price and size of the racing are hard to argue with. What was the dealbreaker for you @Speedy3330 ?

How large is your wrist? I have both and I find the date/racing wears to small for me with a 7.25inch wrist.

I have a Speed Racing blue dial that I'm actually trying to sell. It wears really nicely. It is a little thick, definitely thicker than the Moonwatch. I believe this is because the coaxial movement is thicker. If it wasn't a present from my ex-wife, I'd be keeping it!
