Ive been hunting for a Speedy pro from 1988 (birthyear). I've seen on one website that
1988 = 4750xxxxx but then on another that there is a gap between 1986 and 1990. Ive seen plenty of anniversary speedies from 198. Anyone know what the correct serial is, and if they have any? (not for me to buy - just as proof they exist) Thanks!

There's definitely something weird there. Entering 48,200,000 gives June 1987. Entering 48,300,000 gives August 1993.

A somewhat closer look using actual serials in my collection suggests that Omega essentially stopped making Speedmasters in the late 80's.

    48,239,029 = May 1988
    48,241,648 = Jan 1989
    48,264,497 = Feb 1991

These numbers make it appear that Omega produced ~23,000 Speedmasters in 34 months, or ~670/month. Seems unlikely.

Feb 1988 is my birth date and I get the following:

    Results for February 1988
    Extract Prediction
    For February 1988, 48238286 to 48238566
    For 1988, 48223434 to 48240833

No doubt the 145.022 was produced in 1988 and there are lots of 48.2X examples.

Definitely nothing weird at all. There are extracts for 4822XXXX in 1986 and 4832XXXX in 1995. There are also extracts for 482XXXXXX SN's all the way from '86 through '91. However, it would be great to have a similar concentration of extracts from the mid 70's on (currently about 1 or 2 a year) as in the 60's (about 30 per year)...so folks please send your 'modern' moonwatch extracts along...

Edit : For the OP, here we go ...

    48231900 1987/5/1
    48223600 1988/1/1
    48238246 1988/1/28
    48238804 1988/03/22
    48239425 1988/7/8

    48241408 1989/2/24
    48253121 1989/7/11
    48253269 1989/7/18

From the few extracts present, chances are good if you find one with a 48238XXX you should hit '88.
