Well I'm officially hooked on Omega now. Just picked up a Speedmaster Professional 20th anniversary watch from a friend that bought it new in 1989.

Nice watch! The 1450 bracelet is one of the most comfortable that came from factory on a Speedmaster. Did he still have the special wooden box, patch, and Velcro band that came with 20th anniversary? Also, could we see a picture of the writing on side of case? There were several variations.

I believe he does have all the paperwork, for it. I know he had the box and receipts for when it was purchased, when it was serviced etc. I actually haven't even seen it in several years and after being on the forums it kicked my interest into seeing if we would sell it. I called him up and he said yes, luckily my wife was in town visiting her family back home ( where he lives ) so she went by and picked it up for me. Unluckily i had to explain to my wife why she needed to go to the bank, and go buy an expensive watch for me the day before her birthday. Now I'm just waiting for her to come home so I can finally see it. It is watch 1132/2000 Apollo XI 1969 on the side. It looks like it doesn't have the Velcro strap, or patch. And the box its in appears to be a Grey leather Omega box.

Sorry for the crude images, they're screen shots from FaceTime, since my wife's phone if full and apparently deleting baby pictures to take pictures of a watch is "not acceptable." I'll have better pictures up when she gets back home with it.

No But it is the type of watch that you ask George @Kringkily to hunt down for you.

Hi, new to the forms. Is that a good thing? Original owner has had it in his safe for years, I got it for less than he paid for it back in 1989. Since the box appears to not be orginal, curious if maybe someone had traded it in before he bought it.

I don't know what the price of the numbered limited edition was in 1989, but I have a 20th anniversary model with glass back but not the LE model. In 1989, it was $2,800.00 (Cdn).

Well finally got my watch. Love it. Has a small scratch in the center of the glass, and the case has some light scratches. It's 1132/2000 Apollo XI 1969. Now the ultimate question....... how to verify the authenticity of it? I was 100% trust the owner. He's a family friend and Lt at the police department. He provided me with the receipts from when he purchased it in 1990, when he had it repaired for a broken main spring, and when he had it serviced. Having the recipes and parts from the prior service it makes it hard for me to believe it would be fake. He paid $995 in Jan 1990 for it. edit: watch looks dirty, i used a q-tip and some soap and water to clean some grime off it. apparently it left soap residue.

Everything appears to check out fine, so congrats, it's a fine looking watch.
You can order an extract of the archives based on the movement number from Omega for 120 CHF for peace of mind, but I would be surprised if it wasn't legit.
Maybe worth checking with other members who have 20th anni versions with extracts that it mentions the limited edition part, it ought to but it would be a bit fruitless if they just came back with Speedy Pro 145.022 with these LEs, as you know that part already :D

Good to hear, thanks for the info. Nice pieve of mind. I was able to pick the watch up for under 1k US, so started getting worried. Looks like these guys are pretty pricey. Ill have to check into the exract but im in the US and believe its unavilable.

I own a Apollo 11 20th Anniversary as it is my son's birth year watch, 1989. Bought it in late 2014, a full setup. Except for the, very special, Apollo Soyuz 1975, this 1989 Speedie is the first Limited Edition Speedie. Perhaps because it is so similar to the regular 861 Speedmaster, the 20th has been slow to appreciate as collectors gravitated toward flashier Apollo 11 LEs such as the pandas Gemini4 LE and the Apollo 11 35th. LE.

I'm glad there is more interest in the Apollo 11, 20th.
